Kindergarten-Grade 2-Molly Mouse and Naughty Matt go trick-or-treating to the homes of six woodland neighbors. On each double-page spread, two or three flaps can be opened to reveal the animal in his or her house as well as various symbols of Halloween. Mrs. Rabbit gives carrot cake and has a jack-o'-lantern in her window; grumpy old Badger is empty-handed and Matt responds by balancing a bag of flour above his door; Marvin Mole gives a box of worms to pay back the youngsters for stealing his glasses the year before.

At the last house, flour is dumped on the mice as they enter, evening the score of tricks and treats and revealing all of the animals, ready for a party. Each of the brightly colored, bordered illustrations include tiny elves who are playing their own tricks in the spirit of the season. Unfortunately, the text is lifeless, the illustrations are average, and the flaps reveal items of uneven amounts of surprise.
